  • i'm uninterested in writing with mikaelson original characters as i feel as though adding to their family - outside of marriage - is detrimental to the overall story & themes.

my portrayal of hope doesn't entirely align with canon, as it is largely headcanon based. there are certain aspects of canon that have been entirely removed & others altered. please note that i am also heavily anti j-plec.

with regards to the lore & magic system, i focus on the earlier seasons of the vampire diaries & the originals.

anatomy five feet, two inches in height, hourglass figure. unblemished complexion except for a single birthmark: a crescent moon on her right shoulder. auburn tresses which curls at shorter lengths & hangs in waves when grown longer. pale blue eyes, the same as her father's.

demeanor a haunted nature resides behind her eyes; they hold an intensity that seems to see straight through to the soul, yet behind them lies a deep well of unspoken sorrow. her lips rarely form a smile, but when they do, it is fleeting and bittersweet. hope moves with a quiet grace which betrays her immense power &strength.

scent hope has a complex scent: the major overtones are earthy - dense woodland leaves, damp moss, & wildflowers. beneath that is a hint of smoke, subtle traces of herbs such as sage, lavender & clove. below it all is a minute coppery, iron-rich scent of blood.

sleeping habits most nights she will toss & turn for hours, usually giving up & going for a run, in either wolf or human form, to burn excess energy. her mind is plagued by nightmares which will also interrupt what little sleep she can get.

hope attends the salvatore school in mystic falls, virginia, between the ages of seven & eighteen. until age fourteen she goes by the alias of hope marshall, which is also the year that she triggers her werewolf gene. it isn't until her last year, at eighteen, that she transitions into a vampire, becoming a full tribrid.

after graduating from the salvatore school hope returns to new orleans. she works to unite the three factions again: becomes the regent of the nine covens, alpha of the crescent pack, & the queen of the vampires. each faction elects a representative to speak on their behalf directly to hope, though she ultimately has the deciding & final vote.

01/2012 another assassination attempt is made on hope by agnes using the needle of sorrows on hayley to raise her temperature so high that it would have caused a miscarriage.

witch

spell casting. hope’s magical power is without parallel: there is, as yet, no known limit to her capabilities.

firstborn. a firstborn of the mikaelson bloodline possesses unmatched power. it is, however, incredibly volatile magic which could potentially kill hope if she does not control it.

nexus vorti. hope herself exists as a living nexus vorti: an occurrence so rare that it is miraculous, which creates an enormous amount of power that can be channelled. her birth was such an event, but given that she is the first tribrid to have ever existed, she herself generates that same phenomenal power.

channelling. able to channel, or ‘borrow’, magic from an external source, such as another witch or a dark object.

  • hope’s magic can be channelled & siphoned. however, her power, even in small quantities could fatally overwhelm a common witch, & the magic itself is so unstable that it is incredibly difficult to properly wield.

brewing. to concoct potions, remedies & elixirs with magical properties.

telekinesis. able to move objects or persons through magical influence.

physical harm. to inflict physical harm through supernatural means.

  • the most frequent ability to appear unintentionally during an emotional outburst. can manifest as: an aneurysm; boiling blood; rending of flesh; bones breaking; etc.

manipulation. to control matter with magic, such as the elements. hope is capable of causing gale-force winds, or even hurricanes, & potentially earthquakes, though these are usually a result of her being made angry to the point she loses magical control.

divination. to see the future, past & present events with extrasensory perception.

  • hope often has dreams, or otherwise a keen intuition, of events before they occur.

projection. can separate her mind from her body & project it to another location. often referred to as ‘astral projection’.

possession. to place one’s spirit within another’s body & thus take control.

  • hope was possessed by the hollow at seven years old & vowed to never perform one.

illusions. to alter another’s senses so that they perceive a false reality.

resurrection. to bring someone  ( or one’s self )  back from the dead.

  • there are very few capable of necromancy, let alone resurrection. it requires vast power, strength to wield it, & to have themselves been dead & returned. it is not easily done, & cannot be done often, even by hope.

werewolf

*   =   once curse is triggered.

enhancement. increased senses, strength, speed, agility, & durability beyond that of a human.  amplifies upon triggering the curse.

features. *   eyes glow gold. can be unintentional when angered or otherwise upset.

shapeshifting. *   wolves who belong to the crescent pack have complete control over their transformations,  full & partial.

venom. *   wolves naturally produce venom in their fangs which can kill a vampire.

  • a bite wound will become a painful bloodstream infection: causing weakness, hallucinations, uncontrollable hunger, rabid rage, dementia. without access to a cure it is always lethal.

full moon. the moon enhances her strength, speed & magical capabilities. is less potent before the curse is triggered than after.

silver. * magic bound to silver cannot effect her, nor can silver alone.

vampire

enhancement. *   increased senses, strength, speed, agility, & durability to an extraordinary degree.

  • her lineage afford her the power to defeat even a vampire centuries older than her.

healing. her blood is that of a thousand year old original vampire. she can heal any wound that is not immediately fatal, & can heal those who ingest it.

immortality. *  stops aging entirely, cannot die of old age.  immune to natural illness, disease, viruses & infection.

emotions. heightened, though less prior to transition. something from decades ago causes as much distress as though it were yesterday.

humanity. *   there is a ‘humanity switch’ which allows vampires to turn off negative emotions, such as sadness & guilt.

compulsion. able to control the mind of witches, werewolves & other vampires.

creation. any human, witch or werewolf who dies with her blood in their system will awaken in vampiric transition & will only survive if they consume her blood a second time before a day has passed.

  • those turned by hope are not tied to her life   —   if she dies, they will live on.

telepathy. to enter the mind of another. can share memories, see someone else’s, manipulate dreams & create illusions.

true face. appears when she detects blood or during intense emotions. blood-red sclera, black veins beneath the eyes, & fangs.

sire bond. any 'wolf made a hybrid by hope’s blood will be sired to her: a loyalty so strong that they must do whatever she asks of them.

  • those made vampire or hybrid by her blood, who loved her before their transition, might form a sire bond based upon that love rather than gratitude.

sunlight. * won't burn in the sunlight & thus has no need for a daylight ring.

immunity. impervious to werewolf venom.

weaknesses

aggression. the ‘wolf gene causes bouts of extreme aggression before & during the full moon prior to being triggered.

lobelia. the lobelia flower effects concentration & thus makes magic difficult.

wolfsbane / vervain. these plants effect her werewolf & vampire nature respectively: before triggering / transitioning she has allergic reactions when in contact with them, including anaphylactic shock.

  • * burns her like acid on contact. ingested, they make her weak & feverish.

diet. hope has to consume blood. human is preferred, for its health benefits & taste, but animal blood is also edible.

broken neck. breaking hope’s neck as a witch or ‘wolf would render her dead until she awoke in transition. as a vampire she would be in a temporary death-like state.

decapitation. the removal of hope’s head, in any state, would result in instant & irreversible death. removal of her heart is only fatal before she becomes a vampire.

desiccation. abstaining from blood for an extended period of time will cause desiccation until she feeds again. it can also be forced upon her through dark magic.

  • the spell requires incredible power from the witch who casts it, a physical link to the vampire being dessicated, & a human sacrifice for the mutual stopping of a heart.

invitation. * cannot enter a home without the invitation of an owner or resident.
